Silvia Omedes

(Spain). Holding a degree in Fine Arts from the New School for Social Research in New York and a Master’s in Managerial Functions from the ESADE business school, she is a cultural promoter, independent curator, photographic agent, editor and teacher of documentary photography. She has directed the Photographic Social Vision Foundation since 2001. She has coordinated exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum, New York, and the Centre de Cultura Contemporània in Barcelona.

As a graphic editor she has collaborated with the publisher Blume, the magazine Ojodepez, La Maleta de Portbou, and is on the editorial committee of the magazine 7.7. She is visiting lecturer on the Postgraduate Degree Course in Photojournalism at the UAB, the Master’s in Photography at the Instituto Europeo di Design in Madrid, in Gris Art in Barcelona, in IDEP and the Masterclasses organized by the World Press Photo Foundation in Europe. She was a member of the student selection committee for the Joop Swart Masterclass scholarships in Amsterdam in 2013 and 2013, and has since been the official nominator of young talent for the World Press Photo Foundation. As a representative and agent for photographers, she offers consulting and agent services to professionals and collections to better facilitate the promotion and development of photographic heritage. Her clients include the photographer Joana Biarnés and the inheritors of the Archivo Jácques Léonard. Since 2014 she has been a member of the Catalonian government Committee for the Promotion of the National Plan for Photography.
